The Telstra Women’s Business Awards nominations close at the end of June, so if you know a woman who inspires you nominate her, or nominate yourself! Yes, you can win the award even if you don’t run a business.
If you do, you can apply for the Commonwealth Bank Business Owner Award. If you work in the private or corporate sectors you can apply for the Hudson Private and Corporate Sector Award, or in a government department, statutory body or not for profit organisation you can apply for the White Pages Community and Government Award,

Quentin Bryce receives honorary doctorate from Sydney University
The University of Sydney has conferred a Doctor of Laws degree on Australia’s first woman Governor General and one of my own personal heros Ms Quentin Bryce AC. A big congratulations to Ms Bryce.

I don’t often write about poetry for sphinxx. But this one poet, Hissa Hilal is a wonderful inspiration of what a courageous woman can do. She’s received death threats from extremist Muslims, but continues to chant her words of freedom each week on an Abu Dhabi television competition show called “The Million’s Poet”.
