The value of taking time off

Monday, May 17, 2010

Taking time off is not just something you do to stay sane (although it is a major reason for doing it!). Time off also enables you to work through issues, create projects, have thoughts and make plans you just don’t have the time to when you’re working long days, and trying to balance work with life.

Stefan Sagmeister lives in America, is a man and designer. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have great insights for us sphinxx women on the magic of taking time off. Every seven years he takes a year off to pursue a project he would not be able to pursue. His plan is to take five years out of his retirement, and intersperse these years with this work.

It’s a wonderful video, well worth watching for the full 17 minutes, because its 17 minutes of evaluating your work, your time off and the greater pattern of your life.
